However, just because the interest is lower on a secured loan, bear in mind the fact that you will be paying it for possibly up to 25-30 years. This means you will be paying back more interest than if you borrowed an unsecured loan.

An unsecured loan is a loan from a bank or other financial institution and the rates are usually higher. This type of loan is awarded on your personal circumstances and you credit rating rather than being secured against something. The length of term on a personal loan is usually a lot smaller than a secured loan, therefore making it cheaper in the long run. You will need a good credit rating and be able to prove you have financial stability when applying for an unsecured loan. You can use either loan for anything you wish to purchase.
